Chateau Vannieres

Originating from Burgundy, Eric is using his innate winegrower’s skill to adapt his techniques to much drier conditions in order to produce wines with unique personality, structural excellence and yet elegance.
In just a few words Eric describes the landscape thus: “the origin of Château Vannières and Bandol is a magical place of clay and limestone soils where olive trees, cypress and stone pines grow. Also, the ‘Big Blue’ sea sculpts creeks and carves deep abrupt and white inlets into the coast nearby. Finally, in the background blows the Mistral, our majestic wind that moves the area into a whirl of fascination.” In the vineyard Eric chooses to work with organic practices. No chemicals or synthetic products are used. Eric and his son Charles-Eric are producing wines in the traditional excellence of French winemaking: “I make wine to serve at the dining table or simply to drink well on its own and enjoy”.

“Eye-catching pale coral coloured rosé. Immediately appealing and enticing southern French rosé from selected vineyards in Bandol. Dry, crisp and precise with a brilliantly appetizing palate profile. Vibrant, trim and infused with delicate notes of summer red berries and just a hint of citrus.”

95% Mourvèdre, 5% Grenache

Carefully hand harvested. 30 to 35 days of vinification, aged in foudre and barrel for 22 months. Between 32hl/ha and 38hl/ha.

30 to 65years old vines

A red Bandol that fully lives up to the revered reputation of this tiny enclave of vines nestled on the coast just outside the city of Toulon. The limestone dominated soils ensure that the wines are endowed with structure and yet elegance. This striking red wine maybe heady and rich yet it retains sufficient freshness throughout. Deep, dark spiced wild herbs and autumnal fruit combine seamlessly with notes of faded rose, leather and damson plum. The sculpted tannins provide ample structure yet do not dominate the luxurious, powerful fruit. A wine to savour.”  Neil Sommerfelt - Master of Wine
