The Vavasours hold a unique wine making pedigree in NZ, with their family first settling in NZ in1887, pioneering commercial grape-growing and winemaking. Louis’s parents, Peter and Anna Vavasour planted the first vines in the Awatere Valley in 1986 and established the regions's first winery Vavasour wines.
Continuing this family journey, Louis Vavasour established his Awatere River Winery nestled amongst the vines in the Lower Dashwood, Awatere Valley, beneath Mt Tapuaenuku, Marlborough and is the culmination of 15years immersion in wine making, drawing on over a century of Vavasour family tradition.
